Welcome to the 6th Innovative Air Mobility Symposium 2026

On behalf of the Institute of Flight Guidance of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the German Society for Aeronautics and Astronautics (DGLR) we would like to welcome you to the 6th Innovative Air Mobility Symposium (formerly Urban Air Mobility Symposium), which will take place in Goettingen, Lower Saxony, (Germany), from 23th to 24th November 2026.

The aim of the annual symposium is to share research results and discuss recent developments and questions on current research activities and industrial developments in the field of innovative air mobility, including advanced, urban, and regional air mobility; passenger and cargo transport. The symposium will provide an excellent opportunity for scientists and engineers from industry, research institutions and universities to exchange knowledge and findings of current studies, and to discuss directions for future research and development.

The main topics to be discussed at 2026's IAM Symposium will be:

  • How to overcome challenges of IAM implementation?
  • How can air mobility concepts be extended to smart inter-modal systems?
  • How to develop, construct and validate infrastructure for vertiports or droneports?
  • How can U-space systems scale to safely support high-density operations in urban airspace?
  • How can societal concerns such as safety, security, privacy, noise, and sustainability be addressed?
  • How can artificial intelligence or machine learning concepts be used in IAM to improve system design, operations and management? How to increase their trustworthiness up to certification level?
  • How can air mobility operate safely in urban canyons and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) denied environments?
  • How does collaborative engineering and simulation lead to smarter, safer and more efficient IAM systems?

We invite you to submit your contributions in line with the above main topics. Presentation can be made as a scientific lecture (15 min + 5 min Q&A) or as a poster presentation. From submitted and selected abstracts, the symposium programme will be compiled into thematic sessions. Submissions that cannot be considered for oral presentation (limited presentation opportunities) can be presented as posters.

Participate in the 6th Innovative Air Symposium 2026 with a presentation/poster on the main topics of the symposium!

We look forward to welcoming you to Goettingen.
